FAQ: Upgrading
1. General
1.1 I upgraded to the latest version, but now the application says I'm "unregistered". What gives?
You probably didn't overwrite the old application with the new, and the application has created a new set of catalogues. This usually occurs if you run the new application in another folder other than the one holding your older version of the application.
You need to replace the older version application with the newer version. Note that upgrades do not include an installer (as of this writing).
AstroPlanner requires certain catalogues to be present in order to ascertain if you are registered. Once one or more of those catalogues are installed, it will change to registered status.
The catalogues in question are highlighted on the registered users web page, or you can download then via File→Catalogue Manager... from within AstroPlanner.
2. Windows
2.1 Upgrading to Vista or Windows 7
If you have been running AstroPlanner on a pre-Vista Windows system, and now wish to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, there are some details you need to be aware of.
AstroPlanner will not function very well unless you put it in a place that is not protected by Vista/Win 7. We recommend the user Documents folder. Drag your AstroPlanner folder into the Documents folder. Run it from there.
You might (or might not) need to reset preferences after doing this. Hold down the Shift key as you launch AstroPlanner, and when asked, choose to reset preferences.
